Our weekly worship is Thursday nights at 6:30, and takes place in the context of a meal, as seems to have been the practice of early Christians.
We gather with song (everything from hymns to gospel, and this coming year live hip-hop and freestyle praise), led by excellent musicians.
We share an opening prayer and blessing of the table, and then serve our plates, and return to the tables to share our dinner together.
As we are eating, we briefly share highs and lows from the week, and we remind ourselves that this is “conversational” prayer of our praises and concerns, as Jesus is present among us.
Then we have a scripture reading, and a message.
Following the message, we raise up our prayers, and then share the meal of Holy Communion (offered to everyone), to be nourished by Jesus’ gift of himself.
We conclude our worship with another time of song, and a blessing.
In prior years, we have had discussion of the scripture and message as part of the worship time, but in order to allow our worship time to be more predictable for students’ schedules, this year we are creating a separate discussion time after worship (and including ice cream!). This discussion time is called “Digging Deeper”
